Measure the Contents First

Start with the widest, tallest and heaviest item in the pack, then allow room for tissue, cards or protective wrap. A wine bottle, clothing box and A4 booklet need different shapes. Check the gusset and opening as well as the headline width and height; an item can fit the bag body but catch at the top. A ribbon handle may suit a presentation gift, while a flat handle is easier for quick retail handover.

Ask for the selected product's load guidance where weight matters and test a filled sample. Lamination can change feel and recyclability, so make any environmental claim only from the exact material and supplier information.

Think about how staff will pack and hand out the bags. A flat-shipped carton is compact but needs assembly space; a ribbon handle can tangle in a fast handout. If the bag contains glass or other fragile items, add the right inner protection. Choose a size that does not make the gift look lost at the bottom or strain the handles on the way home.

Screen or digital print and full-colour processes suit different paper bag formats. Keep important text away from folds, gussets, handle holes and seams.
