Design the Finished Mail Piece, Not Just the Insert

Postage is assessed on the packed item, including the envelope or mailer, product, letter, protective material and address label. Weight, dimensions, thickness, flexibility and destination can all affect the service and price. A coaster may be slim on the product page yet still change the envelope once padding and paperwork join it.

Before ordering thousands, assemble a realistic sample pack and check it with Australia Post or the carrier you plan to use. This small rehearsal can prevent the campaign budget from getting a surprise plot twist in the final episode.

Compact Products With Different Jobs

• Notepads and memo products: useful for offices, property follow-ups, training and ongoing client contact.
• Stickers, labels and cards: carry a campaign message in very little space and can work as part of a larger pack.

Match the Item to the Message

A welcome pack might use a notebook or travel wallet. A real estate mailer could pair a house-shaped magnet with a concise local message. A charity campaign may prefer a badge, temporary tattoo or small puzzle that connects to the cause. Choose an item that helps the recipient understand why it arrived rather than adding random bulk to an envelope.

Keep the printed call to action obvious. If a QR code is used, test it at final size and provide a readable web address as backup. Personal data, mailing consent and suppression lists remain the sender's responsibility.

Protect the Product and the Recipient

Edges, rigid pieces, magnets, liquids and small parts may need special packing or may be unsuitable for a particular mailing method or audience. Check age guidance and product instructions. Avoid presenting a promotional card tool as professional trade equipment, and do not assume a slim liquid or cosmetic product can travel without leakage controls.

Artwork, Assembly and Fulfilment
