Choose Scent and Setting Carefully

Fragrance is personal. A lightly scented desk gift, a travel candle and a home diffuser have different use and packaging needs. Ask for a sample if the smell is central to the gift; a name such as vanilla or tranquil does not tell you how strong it will feel in a room. Check the vessel dimensions, wax or liquid quantity, stated use and whether a lid or gift box comes with the item. The tea set in this category is an adjacent gift, not a candle.

Diffusers can contain liquid fragrance or use power, so check ingredients, refill method, power and spill guidance for the exact model.

Some recipients may be sensitive to fragrance. For a workplace or public gift, consider whether a scent-free alternative is needed. For a joined-up pack, compare home and living gifts, gift bags, teaware, serving boards. Choose the combination around the recipient and how the items will be handed over; a matching colour alone does not make a useful kit.
