Water-Resistant Is Not Automatically Waterproof

Many products in the live range are described as water-resistant, using coated fabrics, heat-sealed seams and roll-top closures to help protect contents from splashes, spray or wet weather. Selected products use a waterproof description. Those words are not interchangeable, and neither should be treated as permission for prolonged submersion unless the exact specification says so.

If phones, keys, documents or other valuables are involved, follow the product instructions, close the bag correctly and use additional protection where the consequences of water entry are serious. A promotional dry bag is also not a flotation or lifesaving device.

Capacity and Carrying Style

  • Small bags around 2.5L: suit compact essentials such as keys, a wallet or small personal items, subject to the product's protection limits.
  • Mid-size 4.6L to 10L options: provide room for clothing, food or day-trip gear without becoming a full expedition pack.
  • Larger bags around 20L or 21L: carry bulkier gear and may include backpack straps or more substantial handles on selected styles.
  • Phone-window designs: allow limited device interaction through a clear panel on selected products, but device fit and water protection still need checking.

How a Roll-Top Closure Works

Roll-top bags generally need the opening folded down several times before the buckle is clipped. Under-filling can make rolling easier, while overstuffing may prevent a proper closure. Show recipients how to use it; the buckle is not decorative, and one optimistic fold is rarely the engineering brief.

Material choices include coated tarpaulin, polyester and nylon constructions of different weights. Heavier fabric can feel more robust, while lightweight ripstop nylon suits packs where bulk matters. Abrasion, sharp objects and damaged seams can reduce performance over time.

Branding the Bag

Digital transfer and screen printing suit compatible flat panels, while other transfer methods appear on selected coated materials. Some bags offer a larger front area; others are interrupted by seams, windows, straps or curved shapes. Use the correct template and keep the logo clear of the roll line and stress points. See the printing processes guide for method details.

Real-Life Dry Bag Briefs

  • Boating and waterside events: compact bags for personal items, with honest instructions about water resistance and no safety-device claims.
  • Camping programmes: a mid-size roll-top for clothing or gear inside a larger pack.
  • Outdoor crews: a practical bag selected around contents, carrying method and exposure to dust or wet weather.
  • Travel campaigns: lightweight organisation for beach gear, damp items or day trips, subject to care instructions.

Minimums, Timing and Related Outdoor Bags

Minimum quantities, branding and lead times vary by capacity and material. Request a sample when closure, fit or feel matters, and check the shipping and lead-time guide.

Branded Dry Bag FAQs

Are all dry bags completely waterproof?

No. Many are described as water-resistant, while selected products use specific waterproof claims. Check the exact specification and do not assume suitability for submersion or guaranteed electronics protection.

How do you close a roll-top dry bag?

Follow the product instructions, usually rolling the opening down several times before fastening the buckle. Avoid overfilling because the top needs enough room to form the intended seal.

What dry bag capacity should we choose?

Choose around the real contents. Small capacities suit essentials, mid-size bags handle day-trip gear, and larger options fit bulkier items. Compare dimensions as well as litres.
