Start With What People Need to Write

A desk pad for project notes, a compact conference jotter and a training workbook should not be designed the same way. Decide how much writing space is needed, whether pages require prompts or fields, and where the pad will be used. Design the Page, Not Just the Cover

Useful page artwork can include a restrained logo, contact details, a checklist, appointment fields or a planning grid. Leave enough blank space for the pen to do its job.

Check paper weight, page colour, backing board and whether printing appears on every leaf. Perforation, if required, must be confirmed on the exact product because it is not a category-wide feature. Numbered or variable pages are specialist requirements and should be raised at the start, not smuggled into the final artwork email.
