Attachment, Function and Artwork Scale

Check whether the connector is a split ring, carabiner, chain or loop. These are not interchangeable if the recipient must attach a particular key or tag. For printed acrylic, ask how the reverse side looks and whether the artwork is protected. For an engraved metal item, expect the result to depend on surface coating and base metal. A photograph can make a 25-millimetre logo look much larger than it is.

Novelty functions require their own checks. A small torch needs power and operating details; a tracker may require an app, network or battery; a floating keyring has a stated buoyancy limit if one is provided. Avoid treating the whole category as waterproof, refillable or compatible with every phone. If a product will carry access keys or personal data, your team should decide what identifying information belongs on the tag.
