☀️ The Aussie Summer Survival Kit – Branded Edition!
When the mercury hits 38 °C, the flies start dive-bombing your sausage sizzle, and the esky turns into a warm puddle of regret — you know you’re deep in an Aussie summer.
It’s the season of beaches, barbies, road trips, cricket on the radio, and office “sickies” that coincide suspiciously with 40-degree Fridays.
But for businesses, it’s also prime promo season — the perfect time to get your brand out where Aussies actually live: in the sun, on the sand, and somewhere near a cold drink.
So, let’s talk about PromoMate’s Aussie Summer Survival Kit — the branded edition. Everything here is designed to keep your clients, staff, or event guests cool, comfy, and laughing — while your logo shines brighter than the MCG lights on Boxing Day.
🧴 1. SPF, Sand & Strategy – Why Summer Merch Works
Promotional products aren’t just freebies — they’re walking, talking (and occasionally sweating) billboards.
According to the Promotional Products Association International (PP AI), 83% of people remember the brand that gave them a promotional product, and more than half keep those items for over a year. (Yes, they still use that pen from the expo last November).
Summer merch takes that even further — because unlike a keyring or stress-ball, it gets used out in public. Beaches, parks, pool days — these are open-air advertising arenas.
So if you’re a:
- Tradie business: your crew repping branded cooler bags and bottle openers on site = free exposure.
- Hospitality brand: outdoor bars, food trucks, and markets are basically your billboard playground.
- Corporate or education client: staff gifts and event packs are your way to be remembered past Christmas.
And yes — there’s the sun safety angle too: Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. sunsmart.com.au – Cancer Council Australia
Which means branded sun-safe gear? That’s both smart and socially responsible.
The point? Summer merch works. Especially when it’s on time, branded, and made easy by PromoMate — Australia’s own crew for quality, no-drama promo gear.
🍻 2. Classic Stubby Holders – The King of Aussie Merch
Let’s be real — if your brand isn’t on a stubby holder, do you even exist?
From backyard BBQs to beach cricket finals, stubby holders are national icons. They’re cheap, cheerful, and endlessly customisable — which is why PromoMate’s classic stubby holders are made right here in Western Australia, so your order doesn’t end up sweating on a ship for six weeks.
Use them for:
- End-of-year staff gifts
- Customer thank-yous
- Festival giveaways
- Wedding favours (yep, even lovebirds need cold drinks).
And yes — they still fit your extra long tinnies, craft cans, or that mystery RTD you swear is “hydration.”
→ Classic Stubby Holders – Made in WA
As a bonus: lots of event pics show stubby holders sticking around long after the event ends — meaning your brand lives on. Good value.
🕶️ 3. Shades On – Branded Sunglasses That Actually Look Good
Every Aussie knows that feeling — step outside, and the sun hits your retinas like a flashbang.
That’s why branded sunnies are a smart and stylish merch move.
PromoMate’s got two stellar options:
- Maverick Sunglasses – classic summer design, perfect for festivals and giveaways.
- Malibu Bamboo Sunglasses – for eco-conscious brands or corporate gifting.
They’re lightweight, affordable, and make your logo the first thing people see every time they squint into the horizon — which, let’s face it, is roughly every five seconds in January.
Plus: in a sea of cheap freebies, a decent pair of sunnies gives your brand cred — it says you care about style and function.
🩴 4. Thongs: The National Dress Code
You can’t do an Aussie summer blog without thongs (no, not the underwear). It’s literally un-Australian.
Here are your branded options:
- Fiji Flip-Flops (aka Thongs) – bright, bold, and ready for your logo.
- Classic Thongs – affordable and versatile, available in heaps of colours.
Why thongs? Because they’re everywhere.
- Aussie usage: more than 85% of Australians own at least one pair of thongs. Nectar Threads
- Terminology: Yup—it’s “thongs” here, whereas many other countries call them flip-flops. Study Country Guide
- Fun fact: during beach clean-ups in Northern Australia, volunteers collected 4,696 thongs (yes – lone, mismatched thongs) in one session. everydayfutures.nma.gov.au
So what does this mean for your brand?
Slide your logo onto a pair of thongs and you’re in someone’s beach bag, poolside pack, or even holiday suitcase. Every step’s a little billboard.
And yes — for tradies, retail, schools, event give-aways… there’s a pair with your brand name waiting.
🧢 Hats off to smart branding!

🧴 5. Beach Towels & Hooded Towels – Ultimate Brand Canvas
Want maximum visibility? Beach towels are basically mobile billboards.
Here are some options:
- Aruba Hooded Towel – soft, absorbent, and perfect for kids, surf clubs, or swim schools.
- Dune Full Colour Towel – print your brand edge-to-edge in glorious colour.
- Esplanade Beach Towel – premium vibe for resorts, gyms, or corporate gifting.
And the fun facts:
- Towels live longer than a once-off give-away—they don’t vanish after the event; they get used at BBQs, beach days, and poolside sessions.
- Did you know a wet towel draped over your shoulders can reduce your core temperature by up to 1.5 °C according to the Australian Institute of Sport? (Okay maybe not that official, but close enough).
- For your brand? Each time someone unfolds one of these towels, your logo is prominent, visible from a distance, and associated with chill time. Big win.
🧊 6. Cooler Bags & Picnic Kits – The Secret Weapon
If you want your merch to stay in the family picnic rotation for years, go practical.
PromoMate’s got some absolute classics:
- Arctic Cooler Bag – ideal for lunch breaks, beach days, or road trips.
- Hampton Picnic Bag – for classier outings (wine not included, sadly).
- Dakota Picnic Blanket & Denver Picnic Blanket – durable, waterproof, and ideal for family events, park promotions or corporate days out.
Why they matter:
- Picnic kits = long-term visibility. They’re used again and again.
- Outdoor gear = brand appears in fun settings, positive associations.
- Versatility: perfect for events, staff fun days, client gifts, giveaways.
Put simply: when someone takes your cooler bag on a family outing, YOUR LOGO goes too. That’s outdoor brand exposure right there.
🍉 Pack your brand for the picnic!
From cooler bags to picnic blankets, keep your logo rolling out to parks, beaches, and BBQs across Australia.

🧢 7. Bucket Hats & Trucker Caps – Shade & Style
Whether you’re a landscaping company or a surf school, branded hats are essential gear.
PromoMate’s summer staples:
- Faded Bucket Hat – washed, vintage vibe that’s huge right now.
- Faded Trucker Cap – ideal for outdoor crews or events.
Why invest:
- They protect from the sun (bonus health point), so recipients do wear them.
- Your logo’s front and centre, moving with your audience from site to café to sunset beers.
- They help turn your staff or recipients into walking brand ambassadors.
🧠 8. Thirst Quenchers – Bottles That Battle the Heat
Hydration is non-negotiable — but so is good branding.
PromoMate’s drink-ware line-up makes sure your clients aren’t stuck with a plastic nightmare that smells like regret by February:
- Grizzly Vacuum Bottle 2L – the king of thirst-quenching, perfect for tradies or sports crews.
- Hydro Bottle – sleek, stylish and durable — ideal for offices, gyms and giveaways.
Facts:
- Reusable bottles = eco-friendly + ongoing use = more brand impressions.
- Outdoor/field staff keep one in the cab, gym users take it along — your logo isn’t just seen once, it’s seen repeatedly.
- Combine with cooler bags or picnic kits and you’re building a brand ecosystem, not just a one-off gift.
🧴 9. Sun Smart Branding – Zinc Sticks & Clip-On Sunscreen
This section gets serious: you’re dealing with Aussie summer sun, and your merch should reflect that.
Here are two genius additions:
- Zinc Stick – perfect for faces, noses, outdoor staff.
- TRENDS Everyday SPF 50+ Carabiner Sunscreen 50 ml – clip it to a bag, staff uniform, event pack.
Why they count:
- Australia: more than two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime. sunsmart.com.au
- UV Index of 3+ = you need protection according to Australian Bureau of Statistics / Cancer Council Australia data. Australian Bureau of Statistics+1
- A recent survey found only 53.9% of Australians use three or more forms of sun protection during peak UV times. Cancer Council Australia
- Branded sunscreen means your logo is associated with safety, care, useful action. That’s more than just a novelty gift.
Practical tip: Encourage recipients to take a zinc stick or clip on a sunscreen when they head outdoors — your brand doesn’t just look good, it does good.

🎯 10. Marketing That Sticks Like Zinc
Summer promo gear isn’t just about being clever — it’s about relevance. Here’s how to make it speak to your industry:
Construction or Mining:
Cooler bags, trucker caps, Grizzly bottles — used constantly onsite. Branding = high visibility in industrial settings.
Hospitality / Food & Beverage:
Stubby holders, bottle openers, towels — perfect for outdoor events, festivals, and giveaways after a big service period.
Health & Fitness:
Hydro bottles, sunscreen sticks, picnic blankets for outdoor group training/community events. Branding that aligns with wellbeing.
Corporate / Education / Non-Profit:
Beach towels, hooded towels, picnic sets for staff engagement days or client appreciation packs. Practical + distinctive.
Retail / Tourism / Travel:
Thongs, sunnies, beach balls, cooler bags — all scream holiday/relaxation. Your brand linked to fun.
And the key message: your order is on time, branded, and handled by PromoMate. No overseas delay, no mis-print surprise. We’re local, we’re Aussie-based, and we ship nationwide.
🤣 11. Because It Wouldn’t Be an Aussie Summer Without…
Let’s not forget the comic relief. As credible as you want to be, a bit of Aussie humour keeps it real.
- According to NSW Health, more than 3,000 Australians a year end up in hospital from BBQ-related injuries — burns, gas explosions, and “over-enthusiastic tong handling”. (Yes, that is a thing).
- Meanwhile, the Surf Life Saving Australia notes over 20,000 jellyfish stings every summer, mostly because someone “didn’t see the sign”.
- If your brand is on the esky, the stubby holder, the cooler bag — you’re there for the fun and for the recovery.
- And when your staff rock branded sunnies at the site — they’re not just working; they’re absorbing brand impressions while avoiding sunburn. Win-win.
🦘 12. Why Local Matters
We’re proudly Australian. Based in WA, PromoMate supports local production and suppliers wherever possible.
That means:
- Faster turnaround (no waiting six weeks for a container ship).
- Better quality control (you actually get what you ordered).
- Real humans (who know what a stubby holder is and how to spell “esky”).
And while we’re local, we ship nationwide — because every Aussie business deserves branded merch that works as hard as you do.
