Start With What Goes Inside

Count the containers or cans, then allow space for an ice pack if one will be used. A six-can label may describe a particular can size and arrangement, not a promise that any six drinks will fit. A lunch box must be comfortable to carry to a site or desk; a picnic cooler might need longer straps and a firmer base. Check dimensions in centimetres as well as quoted litres. Bigger is not always better when the bag needs to fit a locker.

Lining, Temperature and Cleaning

Insulation and leak resistance depend on the exact bag. Check the lining material, zipper, seams and any supplier temperature claims; a soft cooler does not replace safe storage for perishable food. Ice packs, pre-chilled contents and the time out of refrigeration all affect the result. If a supplier offers a sample, test it with the actual lunch containers or drink bottles rather than an empty catalogue photograph.

Spills happen, especially in staff lunches. Ask how the lining should be wiped or washed and whether the outer fabric can be cleaned without damaging decoration. Check pocket placement, shoulder straps, handles and foldability. A front pocket can hold cutlery, but it may also sit exactly where a large logo was planned. For a delivery programme, confirm packed size and whether bags arrive flat or filled.

Screen print, transfer or embroidery can suit selected fabric panels; some products offer a defined full-colour decoration area. Seams, zips and insulation layers restrict placement.
